To mark World Refill Day on 16 June, Manly Food Co-op is rewarding customers who help reduce packaging waste by bringing their own containers to refill.
For one day only, shoppers who bring reusable jars, containers, bottles or bags to fill from the Co-op’s extensive range of bulk foods and household products will receive an additional 5% discount on their purchases.
Bring your containers with you to our store at 1/15-25 Wentworth Street Manly – we’ll be open between 9am and 6pm on World Refill Day.
The offer means:
- Non-members receive 5% off
- Members receive 15% off (their usual 10% member discount plus an extra 5%)
- Volunteer members receive 30% off (their usual 20% volunteer discount plus an extra 5%)
World Refill Day is a global campaign that encourages people to choose reuse over single-use packaging and highlights the important role refill systems play in reducing waste.
Refilling is one of the simplest actions people can take to reduce household waste. Every container that is reused is one less piece of packaging that needs to be produced, transported and eventually disposed of. Founded on principles of sustainability and community ownership, Manly Food Co-op has been helping locals shop package-free for more than four decades. The Co-op offers hundreds of products in bulk, including pantry staples, nuts, dried fruit, herbs, spices, cleaning products and personal care items, allowing customers to buy only what they need while avoiding unnecessary packaging.
The Co-op encourages both regular customers and first-time visitors to bring along their empty containers and experience how easy refill shopping can be.
