Are you looking for a way to reduce your environmental impact and help end plastic pollution? Do you want to join millions of people around the world who are taking action to protect our planet? Then join the Plastic Free July movement!
Plastic Free July is a global movement that encourages people to refuse single-use plastics for the month of July (and beyond). It started in 2011 in Perth, Australia and has since grown to inspire millions of participants around the globe. The aim of Plastic Free July is to raise awareness of the problems caused by plastic waste and to empower people to find solutions that work for them.
Participants are encouraged to do as much as they can. You might take on the challenge of refusing single-use plastic items such as plastic bags, water bottles or tackle something harder like food packaging.
Plastic Free July is not just about avoiding plastic; it also focuses on promoting long-term behaviour change. By making conscious choices, we can gradually shift away from our reliance on plastic and embrace more eco-friendly alternatives.

The theme this July is Small Steps, Big Difference. One small step can lead to a lifetime of positive impact. And if everyone takes just one small step, the effect would be incredible.
This year Manly Food Co-op is launching a six week program called Plastic-Free Plan-it to encourage our members to embrace Plastic Free July. Our aim is to help you to plan and prepare so that you can eliminate plastic packaging from the food and drink that you buy. To join in the fun, simply make sure you are subscribed to the Co-op’s weekly newsletter. There’s a sign up form on the bottom of our homepage. Let’s see what we can achieve!
