Thanks for becoming part of the Manly Food Co-op!
You’ve just joined 1,500+ locals as a co-owner of Manly’s only community-owned grocery store.
What did I just sign up for?
How does the not-for-profit bit work?
We exist only to benefit our members, not external shareholders. Any surplus is returned to our members via lower prices, shop improvements, free or low cost events and other member perks.
The more people shop with us, the cheaper it gets for everyone!
What can I buy at the Co-op?
You’ll find a huge range of wholefoods in store, from organic and Australian grown fresh produce to nuts and dried fruit, flours, grains, herbs and spices and loose leaf teas. You also be able to pick up packaging free household cleaners and personal care items.
Read more about our range of products here or browse the full catalogue at mfcapp.org.
Aren’t independent stores expensive?
You’ll find that many things such as organic fresh produce are cheaper than at the supermarket.
Make sure you take advantage of our low-cost Basics range, which includes 30+ staples from canned tomatoes through to rice and potatoes.
Or buy a whole bag of a bulk product and get an extra 5% off at the till. Ask staff for bag sizes and to pre-order.
You can also earn store credit by referring your friends.
How can I increase my discount?
The Co-op is run by a large cohort of volunteers, who all receive an additional 15% off their shopping, excluding the Basics range and bread.
We ask our volunteers to contribute 1-2 hours a week in return for their extra discount.
Find out about current vacancies in our weekly newsletter or here. Or complete this volunteer expression of interest form if you have other skills you’d love to share.
How else can I get involved?
We regularly ask our members to help us choose new products via surveys in our weekly newsletter or member-only tasting events.
We’d love for you to take part in our annual member survey but we also welcome feedback or new product suggestions at any time of the year.
Attend our Annual General Meeting in November to vote on key issues and to hear about our plans for the coming year.
