Have you signed up to Plastic Free July yet? Or have you participated before?

Now is the time to get involved. This campaign was launched a few years ago by a small council team in Perth, and has expanded across the globe with millions of people taking part every year, and often beyond just the month of July.

Why not take this Pesky Plastic Quiz to find out what single-use plastics you are currently using, and what you can cut out during the challenge. Even if you’ve done it before, it helps the organizers track household trends and it can be a great way to take stock of your improvements and find new ways to cut single-use plastics out of your life!

We’ll share different ways of avoiding waste (beyond single-use plastic) with you during the month of July and there’ll be plenty of opportunity to get involved, so stay tuned.

Join us for a Zero Waste Workshop on Wednesday, July 17 at 7 pm with our own co-founder Keelah Lam, the queen of zero waste living. Keelah will guide us through an evening of past, present and future to help us find ways of avoiding waste altogether. We’ll also show two short films and there will be plenty of opportunity to became active and ask questions.

Secure your tickets now! It’s only $7.50 for members and $15 for non-members. The workshop will take place at the Manly Library. Get your tickets here: events.humanitix.com.au/zero-waste-living-workshop-with-our-own-keelah-lam

You will also meet our mascot Mave again. Meet Mave, our Plastic Free July maven. She came to life last year, designed by the talented Sarah Campbell. Mave comes from maven, a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass timely and relevant knowledge on to others. She’ll be our zero waste expert throughout this month. Watch out for her tips on social media and in our newsletters.
