Don’t miss out!
The Co-Op is proud to promote Mental Health Month. The month of October is dedicated to raising awareness of mental health globally. One in five (20%) Australians aged 16-85 experience a mental illness in any year*. This year the theme for Mental Health Month is “Share The Journey”.
Connecting with others is important for our health and survival. Research tells us that feeling connected, valued and loved by others gives us a sense of security, support, purpose and happiness. Close connections and good relationships with others allow us to enjoy the good times in our lives and help us deal with the hard experiences we face. This is important for all of us!
In today’s society, we have many demands on our attention and time, and more people experience loneliness in Australia than ever before. As social beings, this can affect all aspects of our wellbeing. Your Co-Op is all about community, connection and health, inside and out. We’ve reached out to members of our community and asked them to share their stories and knowledge with us in a series of talks and events throughout the month of October.
Meditation & Mindfulness: Join us in store each Thursday starting on October 5 from 7-7.45 pm for a Meditation and Mindfulness class with Sarah Keast. Entry is by donation (we recommend $10) with the proceeds going to Manly Food Co-op and Mental Health Charities.
Tea Tasting: Join us in store each Friday from 11am-12pm. Come and learn more about the exciting range of herbal teas on offer at the Manly Food Co-Op. Each week we’ll take a look at the teas that can help with our mental wellbeing. Pop in, taste some tea and meet some of the Co-Op folks! (Gold coin donation)
