On 30 March, the world marks the International Day of Zero Waste, a day dedicated to reducing waste, rethinking how we use resources, and celebrating practical solutions that keep good food out of landfill.
At Manly Food Co-op, we’re marking the day with a casual in-store tasting event featuring delicious drinks from OzHarvest.
OzHarvest is well known for rescuing surplus food and redistributing it to people in need. But they also go one step further: through their social enterprise products, they transform rescued ingredients into high-quality food and drinks that help fund their mission to fight food waste and support communities.
Join us on Monday 30 March from 1pm to 4pm at the Co-op store to sample drinks that are crafted with purpose. Conscious Drink, a non-alcoholic sparkling alternative to wine, and Lemonaid. Made using rescued produce, these products are a simple but powerful example of how creativity and care can turn potential waste into something genuinely delicious.
Food waste is a major global issue, yet it’s also one where small everyday choices can make a real difference. Choosing products made from rescued ingredients, supporting organisations tackling food waste, and being mindful about what we buy and use at home are all part of the solution.
This tasting is a chance to learn more about how innovative food initiatives are helping close the loop on waste, and to enjoy a good drink while you’re at it.
